Breast Cancer Awareness Month Nationaly & Locally in Northern Nevada October 2013


The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month began over 25 years ago. NBCAM's intent was to provide invaluable information on this disease and generate greater access to supportive services. Many companies and groups work in conjunction with the American Cancer Society to raise awareness and help those who are fighting. 



Facilities that provide low cost screenings can be easily located; this encourages early screenings and prevention. according to available statistics, 1 out of every 8 woman will be diagnosed with breast cancer.  Early detection of this terrible disease is absolutely crucial. When breast cancer is detected in the early stages, the survival rate in 98%, we would love for it to be 100%!  Early detection planners are available for many smart phones and on your desktop.






Local Efforts in the Nevada Community 

Nevada Health Centers is sponsoring a specialized early detection license plate. The proceeds from these plates will go towards the Mammovan. Nevada Health Centers Support Info The Mammovan in Nevada is a resource for woman in remote areas, or people who are uninsured and low income. In Addition, The local Carson City Think Pink Event was held at Red's 395 Grill. Admission was free and all proceeds went to Carson Tahoe Cancer Resource Center for cancer education. Carson City Thinks Pink
